Majapahit Hollow-Cast Divine Rider on Sacred Bird Gajah Mina or an early variant of the Makara. (13th–16th Century)

This complex Majapahit-era artifact depicts a divine rider (partially visible by a remaining leg) atop a mythologically hybridized bird. The creature features a distinct duck-like head and a decorated ceremonial saddle cloth, but uniquely possesses a small tail. In Javanese iconography, this combination of a rider, a saddle cloth, a duck-like head, and a small tail points to a very specific mythological creature: the Gajah Mina or an early variant of the Makara.
